About Sage Meets Salmon - a National gathering of Elders
Our Mission
This is an event where we are inviting Eastern Canadian Elders
(who use sage in their ceremonies)
to be hosted here in the West Coast and meet with Elders here
(who honour Salmon)
Bringing together Elders from across Canada and share how they are succeeding, or struggling with the continuity of Language Custom and Culture, and Ceremonies, in ever changing times where the next generations are leaving traditional territories, and struggles with addiction, poverty factors prohibiting the continuity.
Pairing Private and Public Sector funding to assist in responding to the challenges, which we recognize will be different for each Nation.
This is a true Cultural Reconciliation event and we thank the Title Sponsor Viking Reinforcing for the incubator funding to start this initiative.
